Visit with Laurie

We met with Christian's GAL today. She seemed OK for the most part. We talked for 2 1/2 hours. We got mixed signals. She said all things being equal, Christian is six, she picks mom for custody because he still has the baby mommy bond. On the other side of the coin, she said that 30% of people have some form of mental illness. And in Christian's immediate circle, she'd pick Rachel to be 'the one' from what she's seen so far. She said that she didn't have any problem with Christian being home with me on Saturdays so we should be able to get at least full weekend visitations. She is going to try to talk Rachel's lawyer into letting us have Christian at least on Wednesday during Spring Break. We had just over an inch worth of documentation to back up the claims that we made. It was everything from pictures to police reports. Now we just wait. She didn't seem to think that we'd have any resolution before the next court date which is March 29th. There were a few things that she seemed to find interesting. She didn't like that Buddy the step-dad introduced himself as James' Dad or Louise lying to her Mom about her involvement in this case. She asked if there was anyone who could back us up on that and asked us to have that person give her a call. While she was thumbing through the police reports she asked "Does Floyd know about this?" Floyd is Rachel's attorney. She didn't say but I am guessing that was a good thing for us. There was so much more said today but I can't possibly remember it all.
