Life and All of it's Surprises

Monday was a big day.

Jordie got her ears pierced yesterday afternoon. She asked for it, she wanted it, she even helped to pick out the earrings she was going to get... until that lady wanted to touch her ears. Then she was not happy but only mildly uncooperative... then she got the first ear done and she became Houdini... every time the lady reached for her other ear, Jordan would completely disappear from the chair.... she kept sliding out the bottom on queue. It took some effort and convincing but we got it done, when it was all over, she got a sucker and never looked back. Now, she likes to show her pretty earrings but no one is allowed to touch them. When I turned them this morning, she very clearly and plainly said, "Stop it". There was no fit or yelling, just a very polite request.. ha

James has not seen her earrings yet. He didn't get home until well after their bedtime last night and was up and gone before they got up this morning, he will be out until after bedtime tonight and tomorrow too because of school. I was thinking of taking the girls to see him for lunch so that he can see her pretty earrings. I know she will want to show them off to him.

James got in about 9:30 last night. He had told me he'd be in by 11pm so he's learning to under promise and over deliver... haha I told him to go, I expected him to go... I will say that I was annoyed by a miscommunication early in the evening but I decided it really wasn't worth fighting about so, I tried to let it go. He kept wanting to talk about things that, if we talked about them could have led to arguments but again, I told him to go, why argue? So, I kept ending those conversations. I think that made it appear that I was really upset when actually, I was just trying to pick my battles and that wasn't important enough to battle about, I wanted to have a nice night with my husband when he came home. It wasn't a bad night but it didn't go quite like I'd planned. He got home and went to work on little chores like trash etc. Then when he came to bed, he was too tired. UGH! I told him this morning we have to make a new house rule. When he comes home, no matter what he has to do, no matter where he has been, his first job is to find me and kiss me hello. HA! When I said we had to make a house rule, he said "Oh Great!" very sarcastically but when he heard the rule, he seemed to welcome it with ease. Ha!

Insert Per James: He looked so sexy coming through the door, I wanted to ravish him.
He's so goofy!

James had Yoga today, the teacher has cancelled their class for later in the week and next week is spring break. He is happy to have a break from it. So, he has his classes tonight and tomorrow and he has to finish his physics classes for the week, then finally, a break. It will be nice to get to have him home for dinner every night next week.

Jessica picked out her own clothes today. She got the shorts out of the dresser, the shirt off of the hanger and got dressed all on her own. Then she came to show me the finished product. She did a very nice job. She picked basic jean shorts with a Minnie mouse top. I asked her how she got the shirt out of the closet, she said she stood on her bench and did it like a big girl. Now, she wants to pick her own clothes every day she said. Hmm, we will have to see about that. I am thinking I will give her a chance at it but reserve the right to veto any outfit that is unseasonable or does not match. She has even decided lately that she can brush her own hair. She doesn't need me anymore unless she wants a pony tail. Sigh! You think for so long, I wish she could do this herself, then she can and you wish she needed you to do it for her. She will be five in two short months. I guess it is about the right time for her to start showing a little independence. As Pooh would say, "Oh Bother!" I wasn't really prepared for my baby to grow up.

Jordan is so cute with her new little earings. I have never seen an attitude change as fast as hers did when she saw that blue sucker. LOL. Different as night and day.
Now we need to get her and Jessica matching earings, you keep them matched up in thier clothes. LOL
