New Year!

Saturday when James got home from work, he called Rachel to arrange to pick up Christian. It was the call that he told her was coming when he talked to her Friday night. Five times he called, the calls connected, I can see them on my cell bill, billed at one minute each. Each time all we heard was static, once we could hear some music but they wouldn't say hello and actually talk to James, just take the phone off the hook. UGH! She's had him now on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, let someone else have him on Christmas Day, she had him on his birthday and now New Year's eve and New Year's Day.

Well, James and I decided to start the year out right, with each other, we asked mom and dad to babysit for a few hours so that we could go to dinner and catch a movie. Well, we got out around five. We ran by the theater to see what they had and check the start times. Nothing was starting until after 7pm. Dinner wasn't going to take that long. We went to Cimarron Steak house. I ran into a guy that I used to hang out with when I worked at Convergys. He has aids. I knew he was sick before he left convergys. I was very pleasantly surprised to see him last night. He looked very healthy. Of course, James found it amusing to pick on me about all the gay men that I seem to be a magnet for. In my defense, I met him working at a call center and the gay to straight ratio goes up considerably anytime that you walk into a call center. Back to dinner. We each ordered steaks and baked potatoes, with a house salad. Their salad's are not the best but their steaks are wonderful. It helps that they are reasonably priced too. When dinner was over, we checked the clock and we had over an hour before any of the movies we wanted to see would start so, we decided to rent a couple of movies and head over to pick up the kids early.

During our time without children, we went ahead and handled a few bills. On the way to check the movie times, we ran by Brian's house to drop off rent. He asked James if we'd found a bigger house to move to yet. James told him no, all of our money has gone to getting a lawyer. Brian told him, he'd start looking if he was him. Brian also mentioned, he has no choice in the rent; Next month it will be $400 if we stay. It's going up $125. UGH!

After dinner, we also ran by the post office to mail Rachel's child support. That went pretty well, we were pleased to see that they were open on New Year's night.

When we got home and got the girls to bed, we watched one of the movies that we picked up. It was called Happy Endings. I think it would have been ok if I'd watched it with an understanding for what kind of movie it was. It said it was a comedy. Although the plot was interesting, it was dark and I didn't laugh even once.

James cooked waffles for breakfast this morning. I'm such a lucky gal. ha.

James and I spent the day looking for houses. For something so simple, that is awfully exhausting. I think we got a couple of good leads, we will see how things pan out in the coming days. The girls spent the day with Grammie and PaPa. We wrapped up our day of house hunting by meeting them at the pond to feed ducks. Jordan is NOT scared of those ducks. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to get her to understand that what is good for the duck, is not good for her. She feeds the ducks, she takes a bite or two, she feeds the ducks, she takes a bite. EEEWWW! Jessica always has a good time feeding the ducks too but she is a little more prissy about it.

Craig is here to play video games again. I am planning to clean up the living room and then fall asleep to the chick flick that we rented last night. James will be happy that I am not making him watch it with me... Hopefully, we will make it around to watching three all of the movies before we have to return them tomorrow night.

Joy,
We had a blast with Jessica and Jordan on Monday. That is the same pond that we took Brittany and Danny James fishing a while back. They loves catching the little crappie. We will have to get all the Big Kids and the grandbabies together this Spring and make a day of it over there or at least at one of the lakes around here that also has Ducks. The Ducks are half the fun.
You are so right about Jordan not being afraid of the ducks. She almost had that little crippled one in her lap a couple of times. LOL You know, going out like that just sort of makes you forget that the world and all its upsets are out there. I think we need to go there more often.
Love Ya
Mom
